Western Red Canadian Cedar and Basswood are available to clad your interior walls, floor, ceiling and benches.

Western Red Canadian Cedar

Western Red Canadian Cedar (Thuja plicata) has been used as wood for sauna construction for hundreds of years. It’s color varies from a light yellow to a deep reddish brown. Our Cedar is vertical grain, rift sawn with a low moisture content (7-9%). We include a waste factor of 10% with all orders. Available in FSC upon request. Click here to download spec sheets.

Basswood

Basswood (Tilia americana) can be used in sauna construction as it does not have the strong cedar smell and offers a more consistent color throughout the wood.

Our Basswood is vertical grain, rift sawn with a low moisture content (7-9%). We include a waste factor of 10% with all orders. Click here to download spec sheets.

In most cases you will want to cladd the interior of the sauna in wood (floor, walls, and ceiling). You can use other species but recommend checking with your rep to ensure that there are no negative effects of wood being used inside the sauna (e.g. Teak can off-gas when in heated environments such as saunas).

Our wood is sold in linear footage and ships in 8-ft long boards on a pallet via an LTL freight company.
